Holiday Travel Tips 2021
The holidays are here and many of you will be traveling near and far, to be with your loved ones.

This year, and last, have been difficult for everyone, without being able to socialize and come together with close ones and with the spreading of COVID-19, and more recently the Omicron variant. Luckily, with most airlines now continuously using methodical cleaning approaches and installing air filtration systems, plane travel has become far safer and the risk to spread COVID-19 is much lower.
A few facts and tips about Christmas and holiday travel this year:
- According to CNN Travel, AAA estimates that over 109 million Americans will travel over this and next week and more specifically from December 23rd to January 2nd. This number comes very close to the 119 million travelers around this time, and is pre-pandemic, in 2019.
- Taking your beloved pets with you on your travels? Here are a few tips to keep your pet close and safe, while flying or on the road.
- Make sure your pet is tagged with the most up-to-date information for you to be contacted if your pet gets lost. Microchips can also help track your pet as well!
- Check with your airline to see if they have specific rules and regulations in regards to pets before traveling and be prepared to show documents for your pet, to avoid delays.
- With jet-fuel prices continuing to increase, many airlines have had to cancel or delay flights and can make traveling via airplane a little less straightforward.
- Make sure to check your carrier app and flight information prior to your flight, to ensure you know of any changes.
- Occupancy with hotels is typically lower during the holidays, so if you’re road-tripping, now is the perfect time to take advantage of lower hotel/lodging costs for travel!
- Nearly every hotel and their respective brands have increased sanitary measures for holiday travels, so every aspect of checking in is safer and seamless. Certain brands like Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt provide options where you can check in from your phone and download a room key straight to your phone, so in some cases you can avoid the entire front desk during check-in.
